Strengthening the European Route:
Exchange of experience between CSTB and ECS
European professional association intensifies cooperation with French institutes
Marne-la-Vallée May 28th 2019
As part of their general assembly, the members of the ECS (European Engineered Construction Systems Association) met with representatives of the CSTB (Centre scientifique et technique du bâtiment) for a detailed exchange of experience. The main new developments in the construction industry as well as in the field of European standardization, the Construction Products Regulation and European Technical Approvals were discussed intensively. Furthermore, the latest research activities of the CSTB in the fields of reinforced concrete, fixing and reinforcement products as well as the fire behaviour of reinforced concrete structures were presented. The meeting ended with a guided tour through the extensive testing facilities of the CSTB. Representatives of both organisations emphasised the very constructive course of this meeting and underlined that such meetings considerably improve the cooperation between industry and certification bodies and thus sustainably support innovations in the construction industry at European level.
The European Engineered Construction Systems Association (ECS) is a professional alliance dedicated to high-grade solutions for reinforced concrete construction techniques in Europe. ECS represents the interests of its members nationally/internationally and provides higher-level technical work in all major areas of reinforced concrete construction. Together with our members, we are committed to the use and maintenance of high-grade products and services, and promote the development of reinforced concrete construction techniques.
The mission of the Scientific and Technical Center for Building (CSTB) is to ensure the quality and safety of buildings. It brings together multidisciplinary skills to develop and share essential scientific and technical knowledge covering construction products and buildings, and their integration into neighbourhoods and cities. It guides stakeholders in the cycle of innovation from idea to market and supports the transformation of the construction sector in the context of the digital, environmental and energy transitions. The CSTB focuses on five key activities: research and expertise, evaluation, certification, testing and the dissemination of knowledge.
