On course for Europe with a new name: VBBF is renaming to ECS

Düsseldorf 30 March 2014 – The VBBF (Verein zur Förderung und Entwicklung der Befestigungs-, Bewehrungs- und Fassadentechnik e.V.) trade association has changed its name. As of 1st April 2014, the association will represent the interests of its 12 members under the name ECS (European Engineered Construction Systems Association e.V.). Reflected in European standards, the Construction Products Regulation, and European approvals, increasing globalisation in the construction industry has brought about this change. This is also evident in the membership structure of the association, which is managed by Dr.-Ing. Thomas Sippel.

Since its foundation in 2005, six more members from the Netherlands, Belgium, Finland, Great Britain, and Lichtenstein have joined the six founding members from renowned companies in the construction industry. The objective remains the same. Based in Düsseldorf, the association is actively involved in the European standardisation system, approvals, research and development, as well as quality assurance vis-à-vis the use of modern reinforced concrete construction techniques.

On top of that, the ECS provides architects, structural engineers, construction engineers, precast concrete plants, and universities with consulting services, training, and tools for the execution of construction work in the form of brochures, planning aids, seminars, and presentations. Designers and component manufacturers can find more information on the Internet at www.ecs-association.com.
